The Assault by Harry Mulisch

Originally written in Dutch, The Assault is an amazing book by Harry Mulisch. It describes the tragedy, or “the assault”, that the main character, Anton, goes through and how it affects him later along in his life. In each episode, something new happens and Anton is forced to encounter people from his past who he has been consciously avoiding ever since. This novel is fast past and is a classic that everybody should get around to reading.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde’s classic novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray, tells the tale of Dorian Gray who, in a way, made a deal with the devil, to stay young forever. Overall, this novel kept me interested, however there was a chapter in the middle of the novel that was very hard to get through since it seemed to me to not add to the plot, but added detailed descriptions. But this novel is a great novel that can entertain anybody.

Pitch Perfect

Pitch Perfect is aca-great. It combines the two major things that people seem to be into these days, an enjoyable movie and songs, a cappella style. It’s another one of those “classic girly movies”, like Mean Girls or She’s the Man, in which people will quote and you will understand exactly what people are trying to say. Beca (Anna Kendrick) joins an all-girl singing group and introduces a new kind of energy that they need in order to gain back their positive repertoire. It may not be an Oscar nomination for best picture, but it should be one of the top movies in which people should see.

Westminster's Youth Advisory Panel update

Feed the Homeless
A couple of weeks ago, the Youth Advisory Panel went to downtown Denver and handed out food and clothes to the homeless. It was surprising to see how many people were there. They were all so grateful for what we did. We have so much that they do not have and it is great to know that the time we took to make the food and hand it out was worth it. Seeing them smile made us get the warm feeling inside of us and it was fantastic to know that we made a difference in their lives.
